General Queries

Our depots are located in Perth (Hazelmere)BunburyPort HedlandKarratha and Newman. We have two depots in Newman, one in Whaleback and one at the airport.

Freight is an all-inclusive service for the transport of goods whereas logistics is limited to organising the transport of said goods. Northfleet offers both freight and logistics services.

You must pay prior to transport or vehicle hire. A purchase order or credit card payment can be used for this.

Vehicle Hire Queries

You can collect the vehicle you have hired during our office hours. From Monday to Friday, our office hours are from 7am to 5pm. On Saturdays, our office hours are from 7am to 12pm. We are not open on Sundays.

You are not able to return a vehicle that you have hired outside of our office hours. However, special arrangements need to be made if you require an on-hire or off-hire outside of our office hours.

Mine-spec refers to mine-specific vehicles, which are specially-designed for mining projects. Mine-spec vehicles are equipped with all the necessary features for mine work. They are commonly used in other applications, such as construction projects.

All of the vehicles in our fleet are mine-spec. They have all of the necessary safety features for mining projects and more.

Dry hire involves hiring out a vehicle without a driver. Wet hire includes a qualified driver with the vehicle hire.

Our vehicles may have a minimum hire period depending on the current demand. Check with a Sales Representative for further clarification.

No, our vehicles do not have a maximum hire period.

You are entitled to 150 free kilometres per day, and 200 free kilometres per day when hiring prime movers and trailers from Northfleet.

You can drive our vehicles interstate. However, additional charges will apply based on the distance.

We can supply a driver with our bus hire. Our buses are available for both wet hire and dry hire.

We offer Mobilisation and Demobilisation of our fleet vehicles to most requested locations. Mobilisation and Demobilisation includes an additional fee.

Some of the vehicles we offer on a C class drivers licence include the Hilux, the Prado, the Camry, the Commuter 12 seat bus and 3.5 tonne D/C trucks. You can see our full selection on the relevant website pages.

All of our vehicles are fitted with in-vehicle monitoring systems and GPS trackers. This is a standard safety feature we employ.

Servicing is included with the hire of any of our vehicles. All vehicles are carefully examined to make sure they are in top condition.

You cannot leave your car at our Depot over the course of the hire. You must find a suitable storage solution for your car, independently.

When on-hiring a vehicle, you require a valid drivers licence for yourself and any additional drivers.

You may register an additional driver after picking up your vehicle. To do so, contact your sales representative or the depot where you picked up your vehicle and provide additional details.

You must pay for any fuel you use. All of our vehicles are hired out with a full tank of fuel. Charges will apply based on how much fuel is used.

All payments are via credit card prior to collection unless you are an account holder with Northfleet.

There may be a cancellation fee depending on how much prior notice is given. Cancellation fees vary between dry hire and wet hire. Please read terms and conditions surrounding dry or wet hire for more information.

To extend your hire, please contact us at sales@northfleet.com.au. Provide us with your hire details and we can arrange an extension for you.

You are responsible for any parking tickets and traffic violations that occur while you are driving. Northfleet will charge you an administration fee to process the transfer of any fines or infringements.

If you get locked out of the vehicle you have hired or lose the keys, contact the depot where you collected the vehicle from. They will help you access the vehicle using a spare set of keys. If the primary set of keys remains lost, you will be responsible for their replacement.

For an accident claim, you should contact your sales representative or the depot where you collected your vehicle. You must do this as soon as possible. 

Freight & Transport Queries

Yes, we offer a backload service. However, there is no set backload schedule. It is arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Your freight is not automatically insured by Northfleet. You must take out your own insurance to insure your freight.

A hot shot (or hotshot trucking) service involves transporting smaller, more time-sensitive loads to specific customers. Hot shot services are enlisted when customers need urgent delivery, without delay. Typically, hot shot services use medium-duty trucks to pull flatbed trailers.

A prime mover is a high-powered vehicle with the capacity to tow large loads in semi trailers. Heavy-duty trucks are an example of prime movers. Prime movers are typically used to transport bulky freights to their chosen locations.

You can get a quote and book your freight for transport by emailing us at sales@northfleet.com.au. We will supply you with an estimate for the service you require. You can book the transport by supplying a PO for the amount to cover the costs.

Backloading service refers to a moving option where items are loaded onto a truck that is returning empty after dropping off a delivery somewhere. They will accept backload freight at a reduced rate to return to their home depot.

To find out where your freight is, contact Northfleet on 1300 287 444. We use tracking on all our transport vehicles and will happily provide you with updates when you need them.

We will make sure to notify you when your freight has arrived and is ready to collect.

To verify that your freight was shipped, you may request a proof of delivery (POD) document. This functions like a receipt for your freight shipment.

The time it takes for freight shipments to be delivered depends on the size of the shipment and the distance it must travel. Shipments can be delivered within different time frames depending on the type of freight service being used. Freight is typically delivered or available for collection on the given arrival day or soon after.

Freight matching is the process of pairing shippers to freight carriers using truck load boards. Companies and independent owner operators use load boards to fill available space and avoid unprofitable, empty kilometres driven. The boards state available space and destinations to potential customers.

No, Northfleet does not provide international shipping services. Our transportation and vehicle hire services are strictly domestic.

Freight forwarding refers to the organisation of a shipment for a shipper. A freight forwarder, or forwarding agent, does this for a fee. This is a logistics service and does not include the moving of goods.

The weight limit for freight cargo depends on the vehicle being used for transport. Northfleet has vehicles capable of handling up to 100 tonnes in total freight weight.
