Newman is a town with huge reserves of iron ore, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Pilbara region. There are multiple ongoing operations, with one of Newman’s mines being the third largest producer in the world. Alongside the mining ventures, there are a number of construction and resource projects, all of which may require specialised vehicles with mine spec features.

Our entire fleet is fully mine spec, which means they’ve been customised to adhere to the safety standards that allow vehicles on-site. 

In WA, mine spec vehicles are legally required to have features like flashing beacons, warning signals and modified seating. Some mine sites have specific requests to meet their condition and terrains. Northfleet is a trusted organisation, and we’ve worked with some of the biggest operators in the business.

Northfleet is more than happy to modify our vehicles to meet a client’s requirements. As a standard, however, our vehicles are equipped with a battery isolator to reduce the risk of battery failure, ABS brakes to stop your tyres locking, UHF two-way radio and rollover protection, which reinforces a vehicle’s structure to reduce the risk of injury to the driver and passengers in the event the car rolls. 

Our commitment to safety not only protects your personnel, but also reduces costly delays to projects. All our vehicles are also fitted with GPS tracking systems and in-vehicle monitoring systems. Our vehicles are designed and modified for regular, heavy use across a range of challenging terrains.

Newman is a key part of the iron ore business for a number of Western Australian and international operators. Their focus on iron ore, and the jobs that creates, makes a huge contribution to local revenue, and dominates the location. It also means there can be a huge need for mine spec vehicles, specialised equipment and crane hire.
